Adult Bible Study at Pope John XXIII

Pope John XXIII parish is embarking on an adult Bible study called The Great Adventure Bible Timeline Video Study Series by Jeff Cavins, renowned Bible teacher and evangelist.  This year we are presenting , “The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation.”  This fascinating 24-part Bible study is a rich exploration of the twelve periods of salvation history as told in fourteen “narrative books” of the Bible.

This current Bible study has 116 participants, 40 are in the Tuesday afternoon session and 76 are in the Thursday evening session.  This series started on August 30/September 1, 2011 and will continue for 24 weeks ending before Easter, 2012.  (We will have a 6-week break from the week of Thanksgiving until the first week of January.)  The main components of the Bible Study are:  Home Study, which includes specific assigned Scripture readings and related study questions, Small Group Discussion using the study questions, and viewing of a 50 minute Video by Jeff Cavins.

Beginning in the Fall of 2012 we will present , The Great Adventure Bible Study Series, Matthew: The King and His Kingdom. This 24-part series shows how Jesus builds on the foundation laid in the Old Testament to inaugurate the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.  We will experience how Jesus relived the life and struggles of Israel to become a faithful and victorious King, and see how the promises of the Old Testament are fulfilled in Christ and his Apostles.

Be watching in the summer of 2012 for more information about this adult bible study on, Matthew: The King and His Kingdom.

Beginning in the Fall of 2013 we will present, "The Great Adventure Bible Study Series, Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom.”  This 20-part series shows how Christ’s Kingdom on earth is empowered to carry out his work in the world.  The book of Acts shows the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring outcasts in the same way that Jesus did on earth.  The Acts of the Apostles provides a historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament.  Paul’s letters in particular come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative.

Watch for more details in the summer of 2013 about the adult bible study, Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom.
